Report:
I had thought that everybody would stay home because it was chilly and a storm was expected starting that afternoon, but 12 hikers showed up. The plan was to do the Arroyo del Tajo hike, but on the way south we decided that a better choice of hike was at Sevilleta (all paved roads, shorter hike). Carl agreed to lead since I wasn’t familiar with the trails (but he was). The Visitors’ Center was open but no one was around. We did the Mesa View hike (the first hike in the Sevilleta Nature Center hike description). We saw many tumbleweeds. The most exciting part of the hike was picking out way down steep stairs on the return. When we returned, the Visitors’ Center was locked. We stopped at an A & W store on the way back for a welcome pit stop, snacks, and drinks.
Thanks to Michele for driving and Carl for leading.
