Go north from Albuquerque on I-25 to the Santo Domingo interchange (Exit 259). Exit and go southeast 5.9 miles (this becomes a dirt road) to the SOUTH GATE on the right.
At the SOUTH GATE on the right, open the gate by removing the padlock, rotating the bolt mechanism, and raising it into the vacated hole. Close the gate behind you. Travel southwest 0.8 miles to a Y Intersection and STAY LEFT. Shortly, reach a wash. Continue through the wash and take a SHARP RIGHT . Go 0.3 miles to and turn RIGHT . Beyond this point follow the directions for the specific hike below to get to parking.
For the Ball Ranch South hike measure 2.4 miles from the gate to the point TO BALL SOUTH, which is just after passing through a closed wire fence gate. A road goes left down hill at this point to a windmill after 0.3 miles to the BALL SOUTH Hike starting point.
For the Arroyo Del Tuerto hike measure 3.6 miles from the gate to the point TO TUERTO. A road goes left steeply down hill at this point to the main arroyo after 0.7 miles to the TUERTO Hike starting point. Travel beyond this point by vehicle is not allowed by the BLM.
For the Ball Ranch North hike measure 4.2 miles from the gate to the point TO BALL NORTH. A road goes right at this point to just short of a windmill after 1.3 miles to the BALL NORTH Hike starting point. Park before the arroyo which the road crosses.
