Report:
10 hikers met at Bear Canyon anticipating a van ride to the trailhead. It was then discovered that the driver had cancelled. We therefore decided to carpool to the trailhead. We arrived at the end of Ella at approximately 9 am. We proceeded across a small bridge over a ditch then traversed a larger bridge over another ditch. From there we descended into the Bosque. We followed the meandering trail, with a diversion to the rivers edge. Upon reaching the turnaround point near Romero Road, we stopped for a lunch break. The trek back to parking was abbreviated by walking the ditch bank instead of taking the winding trail through the woods. Along the way we spotted Sandhill Cranes and a small group of Alpacas. The weather, being sunny and windless, could not have been more perfect. We arrived at the Center just after 1 pm. Total miles: 6.5 miles.
