Report:
The day turned out to be challenging. 12 hikers arrived at the trail head at 10:45 am. After making a slight left off the road to the trail, we encountered a 7 foot high fence which encroached on the trail. After paralleling the fence at a slant, we decided to crawl under the fence to access the trail. That necessitated crawling back under to clear the fenced area. From that point to the end/lunch spot, we encountered no difficulties other than a small stream crossing. After lunch we decided again crossed the road and walked on the road thus avoiding the fence. We then started our drive home but on 550 we encountered a traffic accident. With traffic backed-up for miles, we were essentially at a standstill for 2 hours. We arrived back at the center at 6:45, having alerted the center of our late ETA. Total hiking distance: 5.88 miles. Thank you Michelle, for driving and thank you to the group for being such good sports in having to crawl under the fence.
