From Albuquerque, go north on I-25 to exit 290. Go south on Hwy 285S to Astral Valley Road.
Actual Hike
Trails in the Galisteo Basin have been laid out with numbered intersections as well as trail names.
From the Cowboy TH, go northwest to INT-23. Take a left and head northwest-west to the Moo Milestone on Shepherd’s Trail. Turn right and go north past Heaven’s Gate then a long section on Eliza’s Ridge northeast to INT-05 which joins Rockin’ Angie Loop. Follow that loop to INT-8, then go on Skylar’s Loop southwest to INT-13 and INT-15. Take short sections generally west to INT 16, INT-18, and INT-22, where you join Gretl’s Way southwest to INT-23 then south to the COWBOY TH.
