Hike Class Definitions

We’ve defined the class (degree of difficulty) of our hikes as follows:

A (Easy): Not more than 5 mi and not more than 200 ft total uphill.
B (Moderate): Not more than 7 mi and not more than 700 ft total uphill.
C (Challenging): Not more than 9 mi and not more than 1500 ft total uphill.
D (Difficult): Not more than 11 mi and not more than 2300 ft total uphill.
E (Most Difficult): More than 11 mi and/or more than 2300 ft total uphill.

The hike Text Author or Maintainer can change the difficulty by one level if deemed appropriate. For example, an 8 mile hike in the Bosque (very little elevation change) could be classified as a B hike.
